Vera NOVAKOVA (1973) studied metal and precious stones techniques at SUPS in Turnov. In 2001 she graduated at VSUP in Prague as jewellery designer. From 2001 she created her original and limited-series jewellery. Her work was chosen for the international show of contemporary jewellery design Schmuck 99 in Munich and was awarded first prize in the Silver jewel competition in 2003 and 2004. In 2008 Vera’s work gained the award Jewellery of the Year in the art category. In 2009 Vera Novakova was listed in the prestige publication Compendium ranking her among the thousand most important jewellery designers in the world.
In her work she uses traditional technology and materials but unusual processes and techniques. At the beginning of her work she experiments, searching for form and shape. It is then transformed into more or less traditional jewellery with the stress on comfort for the wearer. Bringing something new to a small space is her greatest and most enjoyable challenge.
