Exhibition of paintings and forged sculptures
27.4. - 1.6.2012
Alice Waisserova (1974) was born in Jihlava, where she now lives and paints. She is the third generation of a family of painters. From 1995 until 2001she attended the Faculty of Fine Arts in Brno, intermedia department. The characteristics of Alice Waisserova paintings are rich colours and deep dynamics gleaned from the coloured fields of her surroundings.
Her favourite topics are cosmological and meditative visions. In her current work we can see her interest in specifics of place, landscape and dreams. She discovered her topics while travelling in the southern countries of Europe (she spent five years on Rhodes). She is also influenced by hot sun, wild vegetation or the endless horizon. All is transformed into abstract coloured palette which is in some cases complemented by concrete elements such as fish, jellyfish or lizards.
David Habermann (1979) also comes from a family with a long artist-craftsman traditions. He studied artist-blacksmithing in Jihlava - where the master of technical training was his father, Alfred Habermann jr. (1953). His graduation piece, an art nouveau grill was awarded first prize at the international blacksmithing symposium at Hefaiston Helfštýn in 1996 and became the event’s logo the following year. David Habermann works with the black steel, to which he gives the finishing touch by contrasting light colours. He manufactures the work by hand forging. His work can be also described by the motto „artist with a child’s sole“. His current influences are nature, narratives, the shape of a sphere and biblical topics. Most recently he has concentrated on figurative work.
